Adelphi Lifelong Learning combines
deep medical knowledge with a unique software system to produce
continuing medical education (CME) via case histories, delivered
via the internet.
An example of this is the European Society of Cardiology's
Educational website
(ESCed). ESCed is the only system that delivers accredited
online CME to doctors across Europe. It is one of the ESC's
leading educational services, with over 8000 registered users.
ESCed contains case histories in numerous areas of cardiology,
based on the ESC's Core Syllabus, which itself was developed
by collaboration between Adelphi Lifelong Learning and the
ESC.
Early development of ESCed was supported by the European
Commission 'Leonardo da Vinci' Programme. It was selected
as one of the top 30 flagship projects of the thousands supported
by this programme, and was showcased at a major meeting of
the Commission in Maastricht in December 2004. To view ESCed,
go to: www.esced.org
and click on ‘I would like to register’.
Adelphi Lifelong Learning has also developed highly successful
interactive case histories in chronic pain management and
is aiming to develop educational websites in other areas of
medicine, including oncology and respiratory medicine.
In addition to this, they are able to integrate case histories
across a whole range of media from meetings and workmats to
the internet in order to facilitate improvements in clinical
practice and disease outcomes. Adelphi Lifelong Learning can
also develop versions of their software for educational activities
and training of representatives.
